Latest News Dear Family, New start down under. 28/8/08 Dunedin
Long time? Did you think I'd dropped off down under?
For the last year a lot of different things have been happening. Moving countries, selling home, buying home, having baby, and starting a new life working in Dunedin. Thomas said DaDa this morning. What an amazing thing. The last few months have been some of the most challenging in my life. Beats evangelizing in Iran. How such a small, innocent person can know how to press all the buttons at once? He is amazing and I wouldn't change anything. Kez is a natural mother ,wanting to be in that position from the age of 4. Her nursing experience has been invaluable and her patience and endurance with the feeding all through the night so impressive. She is a great wife. The Winter is just finishing and has been quite long and wet. We live by the beach on farm land at the base of two mountain streams...hence we call it the box on the bog. The house is a glorified shack that I am slowly trying to stuff with reconstituted wool to stop the draughts and survive the next Winter. It is a truly beautiful setting with mountains, coastline and rural quiet. The house has many possibilities. Kez dreams about what she will put in the garden and I am busy filling the sheds (7) with junk (useful). The neighbours are great and we have had opportunities to share about God in a sensitive way. Different evangelism here. The church we found is very open and looking for the Holy Spirit to lead. They put me on the worship once a month.
Anyway, we are back home to UK for a month to see Mum and visit friends so I hope to see you or catch up some how.
The music will be re ignited when I get back with a few musicians I have met in town.
I think of you often even if I haven't written for a long time. Love always, Mike, Keryn and Tom xxxxxxx Thomas Gwyn Jenkins...Born 6.45pm,11/3/08, Queen Mary hospital, Dunedin, New Zealand. Thomas is such an amazing little bundle. Very loud voice and good bowels….especially at 4 in the morning. The labour was quite hard for all of us , but all is well and Thomas was born by x-section at about 6.45 PM on the 11th of March. Kez was amazingly brave during the whole time. The best part for me was the first hold and seeing flesh of my flesh looking back at me. I’m learning all the new lingo...like putting baby down, winding and expressing milk( nothing to do with coffee?) Changing nappies is not a favourite, but all part of fatherhood. Keryn and myself have spent the last 6 months moving from Wales, finding and buying a house here in South Island ,New Zealand and sorting jobs and trying to settle in before the winter. The house has a lovely location but is a bit of a shack. It’s taken quite a few months of work to get it water-tight and draught improved before the cold of winter. We have a log burning fire which is very nice but not much else for heating. We drink rain-water from the tin roof and will be growing our own veg as soon as possible. There is about ¾ of an acre on farming land so we can have animal and do all sorts of things not allowed in the city…milking bees? Anyway that is the general catch up for the last while….please stay in touch and do come a visit if you have a few hundred to spare. We will be coming back for a visit towards the end of the year. Many blessings on you. Dear Family, The land of the 7 Sheds. 23/12/07 Kuri Bush, NZ
Here's hoping you have a blessed and merry Christmas whether you are in the cold or the hot. We're looking out over blue water and rolling surf at the moment having just moved into our shack on the beach close to Dunedin, New Zealand. It needs major work but I'm really looking forward to it. Here they call it a 'crib' or 'batch', like a square wooden box for holidays, or 'life block' where small time farming is allowed. It's in a rural area so we can have animals. We are calling it the land of the 7 sheds! (guys paradice) The house in Wales sold within a day of the offer being accepted here and so thank you for the prayers for Gods perfect timing. Keryn is due to have the baby at the beginning of March so we are getting all the baby things together. What a change for me? Thanks again for all your prayers and thoughts.
We found a friendly church to be apart of in Dunedin and I have been working with the youth to get them together as a band as well as lead the worship sometimes. They are free in the Spirt and inclusive of all the different races here. God bless and please keep in touch Love always, Mike and Keryn xxxxxxx
Dear Family, Paper anniversary. 30/8/07 I have been hibernating for the past year getting to know Kez my wife and resting from the road. Today is probably the last day that I will be living in Wales. My old car is going to be filled with the remanence of the belongings that didn't fit in the boxes sent to New Zealand and I will try to give away or find somewhere to squirrel them until another season. It has been a great time and I would recommend marriage to you all. It just takes the Lords timing and the right person. Kez is difinitely the kindest person I have ever met and she encourages me to be the best I can be. She completes me in so many ways and I hope I give her all she needs as a husband. The music and ministry has been on hold during this time and I know the Lord has adjusted us both to focus on Him through new eyes of each other. I hope new and fresh songs are on the way as I have so much that I would like to express for the last few years. Thank you for being at the other end of the line for me even if it's only once in a while. The prayers you have said make a great difference. I will be in transit for a while so if you send personals it will be a few week for me to get back to you. I fly on the 5th Sept. Love always, Dear Family and all, ONE YEAR LATER 9/3/07 Port Talbot, Wales. Marital Bliss! Sorry for being out of touch for a while. It's been quite a major life change for me this last year. The best thing I ever did... thank the Lord for finding someone eventually. Keryn is doing fine in Wales working as a nurse assistant while waiting for the red tape to end before she is able to get registered as a nurse here. We are waiting on the Lord as to whether to continue this process as it is very expensive and we are travelling back to New Zealand in August. Can I ask you for some prayer to be released from Wales at the right time. The house goes on the market next week and we are preparing for a move. It looks like New Zealand is going to be the place to build a base so I would appreciate your prayers and thoughts. I have been doing some tent making as a fix-it man around the local area to keep body and soul together and we have had many good times working life out together in the valleys. Keryn is going to miss the Welsh people and our little house on the mountain side. The music and ministry have been put aside for a season for the Lord to do some new things. I'm sure there are many things he is planning to do with us in the future together. I hope that keeping in touch once in a while is OK. I always feel bad deleting names from my e-mail address book...like losing someone. I pray the Lord is blessing you all and as usual, send me a personal and I will reply. Lots of love Mike and Keryn Jenkins
