Archive News - 2005 Dear John and all, Raglan 14/12/05. Christmas on the beach. Merry Christmas from sunny New Zealand. I went swimming yesterday for the first time at Raglan beach. It is a unique I have been working on my friend Daves mini farm, building a pig enclosure The national radio program went very well and there were good responses on After Christmas I will begin to move out to the towns where I have been Have a great Christmas and thanks for the thoughts and prayers. MikeX PS A friend of yours Bob Lawson from Hamilton Elim is giving me a spot this Dear All, Hippy paradise in Raglan, New Zealand. 20/11/05 I arrived in New Zealand alright after an easy 3 hour flight from Nandi, and met up with my old mate Dave from Wales. He relocated with his wife Noni and had two lovely kids about 6 years ago here in Raglan. Raglan is a hippy beach town full of surfies and musos that have found heaven on earth. I visited the beach yesterday and now I understand. Dave is a paragliding, osteopath who loves to play music. He got a few of his mates together last night and we played into the early hours in his very detached house on the rolling fields of an old farm. He grows his own veg and has a goat to make cheese. The 'Good Life' is a reality here if you can find the door. There seems to be good potential for playing music here, and there are many free church that might let me visit for a song or two. I will be here until at least Christmas, so it will be turkey on the beach this year. Love always, Dear Family, Finish with a bang! 16/11/05 Fiji Thanks you so much for praying. The Lord opened the door to the national I will be off to Nandi at 5 am tomorrow morning. Thanks again. MikeX Visit to Island paradise 12/11/05 Leleuvia, Fiji. Dear all, I just thought I would post the article I wrote for the airlines magazine on the site. Some individuals and church leaders I have met are beginning to thirst for the Holy Spirit and his revelations about the Lord Jesus, and are willing to yield to His moving the same way we have seen in the west for a number of years. The people are so friendly and open to talk about God, but it's the willingness to submit to the Lordship of Jesus and go beyond the token surface of religion and receive a life changing, born again experience that gives the power to us to spread the truth and freedom of the gospel. Gob Bless you from Fiji. Visit to Leleuvia: We arrived at a deserted beach after a 40 minute mini-bus ride from Suva and waded out to a small boat with bags and provisions for the week on the resort island of Leleuvia. As the boat picked up speed away from the beach I could see the coral beds beneath and my dream of diving on the reefs of Fiji was becoming a reality. The friendly island staff welcomed me in true Fijian style with guitars and song on the beach when the boat pulled into this island paradise of Leleulvia and I began to feast my eyes on the beauty all around so welcome to my city worn soul. No noisy cars, pounding music or machines, just the gentle breeze blowing through the palm leaves and lapping waves on the white sand. The cabin prepared for me was literally 10 paces to the water and I went straight away to the water like a child drawn to that same old fascination with the beach. For an hour I circumnavigated the island and my soul found new depths of appreciation for Gods creation. Little crabs scurrying across the sand and myriads of creatures I had only seen on nature programs paraded before me from a clear blue sea. For the next few days I adjusted to the slow pace of life on the island and snorkeled the surrounding reefs that had hundreds of beautiful brightly coloured fish. There are very few creatures to be frightened of in Fiji inside the protection of the reefs and there are no strong currents that can make problems for swimmers. Three times a day the staff blow their shell horn and I joined the visitors from all over the globe for meal times. Gordi who drives the boat, also sings very well with guitar joined by Doves and Jo singing in tight Fijian harmony in the background as the guests let their hair down and talk out the tangles of their lives, and make new plans to enjoy themselves more often. One of the long term residents Noel who has found his place in paradise, helps the new arrivals to get acquainted with his friendly Australian personality breaking any ice that keeps people from sharing time together, and the girls ( Elenor,Eseta,Vilisi and Losalini) spoil everyone with good food and friendly smiles. After a few days I had my first chance to dive on the reef and I saw some of the larger fish outside in the deeper waters. Gordi managed to see a shark and some barracudas when he went deeper down the reef. A few times we all sat around the camp fire on the beach and shared quality life with each other playing music and watching our dreams come true for a moment in time. I will always remember this time as a highlight of my life and carry it in my soul as long as I live. Thank you Lena, Sireli and the staff of Leleuvia for sharing some of your paradise with me. God bless you. MikeX Dear Family, Breakthrough in the Spirit. 20/10/05 Suva Fiji. I saw breakthrough last night in the Spirit. At YWAM we had a powerful prayer meeting two nights ago and celebrated with high praise. Yesterday the Lord led me to a lady from the Apostolic Church here who told me of her testimony of being taken up to the second heaven where the Lord showed her the things that the enemy was going to do in the end times to control the eyes and minds of the world with media. She saw satan and his demons giving power to people to invent devices every 5 minutes towards the end that would swamp the world with distracting technology. There were two screens; one large and one computer screen. Demons were taking ideas and allowing producers to make movies with power to deceive the minds of all the people. The internet was the second image making device. The lady said she had been praying for 20 years for the church in Fiji to be revived. She asked me to come to the home group for one of the 33 churches that same night and the Lord began to move in the meeting. This is the first time I have seen the Holy Spirit move in a gathering here. The lady said she saw a wave beginning here that would sweep back to the north and even to Wales. Praise the Lord! Tomorrow and Sunday there are more meeting arranged with great expectancy. Please pray for the Lord to move mightily in the lives of these people and have passion to take the anointing to the other thirsty souls here caught up under a religious spirit. Dear All, Whoever sent me money last week ...Thanks! Fixing toilet day Fiji 18/10/05 Please let me know who it is. Door still open here to media but the longer I'm here the more I see how much the religious spirit has hold of the body here. The boat to the island had too many missionaries so I'm still land locked for a while. The TV program is delayed and could use a little more prayer to push through. My house is still without renter. Fixing the toilet in YWAM today. MikeX PS If anyone else sends something through the Mikejenkins.org site then please let me know. Dear Matt and all, Fiji 10/10/05 Cockroach battles. Hope it's not too dull today like Britain tends to be when the summer runs away. Too blooming hot here. Last night I was sweating inside my mossie net and felt a tickle on my head at about 2am. A dirty great cockroach feeding on my salt. Awake in a flash and mad thrash to kill the beast with my pillow. It got away and then I made chase. Another one flew onto my back and I hit that one. About 8 in all the size of jam jar lids were smashed by my shoe in hand in the coarse of the next 30 minutes. The ants have been diverted from my food for a while to feed on fresh cockroach. Yuck! Today I will find out whether I can go o the yacht to an island to put a water system in for a local needy village. There are already about 10 from all over the world going on a beautiful 60 foot yacht for about three weeks. No tsunamis please Lord. I think I have exhausted all the media outlets for a while. My DJ mate has been working hard as a PR for me over the last month. I'm getting a little tired of bussing up and down the Suva city streets knowing that there are so many beautiful places within an hour of here. Suva is the capital but virtually no tourists come here because is is not the typical Fiji scenery. Keep in touch. Love always, Dear Bill, Marcia, and family, Island mission with YWAM 5/10/05 Fiji. Thanks for all the encouraging mail...you have all pulled me through the difficult beginnings here, of knocking on doors and finding where God wanted me. Today I recorded a brand new song only written last night at the Fiji radio station. The engineer in the studio heard the song and confessed that the Lord had woken him up last night to read the bible and get himself right after 8 years of backsliding. We spent a few hours talking about God and the freedom that the Holy Spirit is bringing in the Bride of Christ. The Fiji radio station is riddled with searching souls and rich for ministering. Almost every morning we have a table in the radio cafe with prayers and ministry to each other in amongst all the radio station stuff. My DJ friend got me a program with the ABC Australia radio that will go out over the whole Pacific on Friday. The TV station is still deciding and the other main paper is lined up for an interview. The churches are still not very forthcoming but the YWAM folks are helping me. I met a team that are going out to a remote island to deliver books and put a water system in for the locals. I led worship on their yacht tonight and they invited me to go to the island with them... one of those Robinson Cruso type I think. Oh Lord what an offer. I will pray! Health good and spirits high. Cottage still not rented and money running out. Please pray for this to be resolved finally. MikeX Dear John, family and friends, Floods 29/9/05 Suva, Fiji. Fiji flooding today. People in low lying areas being moved to high ground . Suva is known for heavy rain fall , but this is not usual. The place I am staying is on high ground. PTL! I made contact with the main group of associated churches yesterday and met a guy called Arthur Soqosoqo (try pronouncing that) He was in the rugby international team of 64 that visited Wales and has a love for the Welsh. He is one of the main leaders of this church association and want to put me in a place I can be used. He has also shown great interest in the Sporting marvels vision and is going to put his churches in touch with the prayer vision as well as find a missionary from Fiji. I will give him some of the vision material today. The Lord is continuing to open doors to ministry and opportunities to testify of His freedom. Time running out. MikeX Dear Mum ,Family and all, Suva Fiji 20/9/05 (Safe home) Thanks for the good news. Hopefully the cottage will be let this time. I am in safe accommodation after three weeks of hostels, shacks, villages and street hostels. Finally I can rest my soul with friends I can be safe with. It feels very good to be with extended family. My infected foot improved after your suggestion to bath it in hot water. That night it was swollen and very red so I lanced the infection with a needle. The relief was immediate. The stomach bug went when I took one of my old pills that I have been carrying since India 3 years ago. The national newspaper are putting out an article about my traveling and the stories of spiritual change. There are all sorts of other avenues that this DJ friend is opening up for me. He was a wild character, always in the media here in some sort of trouble. He has now turned the corner and many are hearing the difference in his programs. This weekend he wants me to sing in front of all the police of Fiji in their convention. TV will be probably this afternoon. Thanks for the prayers and the thoughts. MikeX Dear Mum family and all,17/9/05 Suva Fiji Homeless in Suva I'm feeling a little ruffled after spending the night in a catholic hostel for street people. My DJ friend wanted to find me a place to stay and thought it would be a good idea for me to sing to the down and outs of Suva. They were very nice and welcomed me in their community. My other residence with the village chief in the tin shack built on the Suva policeman's garden allotment, is still holding my main bags, but I would like a secure base to work with a little plumbing.(Fussy!) The DJ Tikini Cama has been a real Godsend. He has managed to open many doors by just being very helpful and inspiring. He is Catholic and very hungry for more of the freedom in the Spirit. He asked me to sing at a Catholic youth meeting last night where they were collecting for a march across Fiji next year. Next week the newspapers, TV and more radio will open up. Not eating very well since the village but hope to get sorted out when I find a good place to stay. Please pray for my house to be rented. Thanks for being in touch. MikeX Dear Andrea ,Family and all, Being back in very basic living conditions took a few days to get used to I swam in the bay and sat on the hard floor of the methodist church on I will be trying to see if the door to more TV or radio opens today so Nadi, Fiji 5/9/05. What a beautiful place! I had a swim this morning in the sea down the road from the hostel and it was just what I imagined. Deserted beach with palms and lapping water. The flight was 26 hours and had to have my finger prints and face scanned in LA Airport before the connecting flight to Nadi. Met some nice people on the way and had some interesting conversations. Staying in a cheap hostel that is $15 a night but clean and friendly. Exploring the down town area this morning and keeping my eyes open for places to play. Thanks for keeping me in touch. Dear Family, Aug 05 Sorry for the long delay in updating the latest news. I have been hibernating in my cottage in Wales trying to squeeze out the inspiration for writing a book as well as finish songs for a new recording . This was all sparked from a telephone call to Tony Cummings at Cross Rhythms magazine last year. He put me in contact with the producer (Phil Goss) and then did a very nice interview for the magazine. The CD is finished but my marketing skills are not what they used to be when I worked as sales manager for my fathers company many years ago. I have lost the business incentive. I love to get my testimony out and have un-churched people listening to songs that are not too intense for them, but this often means giving the music away. I know a workman needs a reward, but the Lord provides whether we need seeds to give away or bread to eat. I found a new fellowship with a mission vision about 6 months ago. Porth Christian Center (ELIM) They are situated in one of the poorest communities in the UK and have a strategy to turn the poverty spirit of this region around. One of their ministries (Sporting marvels) are bringing missionaries over from Africa to work with the local schools, teaching sport coaching. Their work is expanding quickly. Another ministry is pioneering a Christian arts festival right in the center of the town which I have performed /ministered at last year and will this year on the 25th of June. The pastor John Bullock is a great encourager to those who have a vision that they need to work out. Another couple spend all year campaigning and collecting to give food away in hampers to the needy local community. The last news is that I am off on my travels again. First to Fiji, and other islands around the Pacific , then New Zealand as the Lord leads. There is revival breaking out in many communities in the Pacific region and so I think there is work to be done. This will be a change from the places I have been sent in the last few years where much of the church has been struggling to make headway. Please keep in touch with a few lines now and then . It is very comforting to receive some encouraging words from family and friends when the road gets a little rough and lonely. I will be playing at the Porth Revolution festival on the 25th of June. |
